Basic Dirac Notation For Intellectuals

preview_player

Let's go over some basic dirac notation for quantum mechanics. I go over how to write a vector as a linear combination of basis vectors, and how to find the components of a vector in dirac notation. I also go over the completeness relation as a sum of outer products.

Cool to see you offering tutoring, you would make a good teacher because this video is very clear

i followed you when i was 17 and now i'm second year uni student studying physics... how amazing

Yass honestly I love the internet for giving us all access to "higher level maths"! You are such a good explainer!

Finally, a decent dictionary! I am a math graduate student interested in Operator Algebras and Operator Spaces. I am always in search of applications and most of them can be found in things relating to quantum physics, but it’s difficult to read academic physics papers on the field namely because most of them are in Dirac notation. It blows my mind that something like a physics to math dictionary is needed lol.

I'm taking quantum mechanics now and you helped clarify some really confusing notation! Thank you!

As an engineering student I loved the name of the book Physics for Scientists and Engineers by Giancoli. I remember I felt like I was learning advanced science. The word "Intellectuals" in this video gave me similar joy and fun.

Really fantastic, dude. I am struggling with Dirac notation so far and could not find a video of help till i have watched this one. Good work.

Thumbnail had me thinking, you did some calculation and revived Dirac and convinced him to teach for your channel.
BTW love these tutoring videos. Its amazingly clear.

Great explanation on Dirac Notation.
I really struggled with this at University and you made it all sound logical and simple.

Man!!!! I'm sure you are going to be a cool professor some day. Because the way you teach is so much straight forward and interesting at the same time. Keep making more videos. Wish you luck.

This video helped me a lot, as my textbook didn't really explain the whole complex conjugate thing with Hermitian operators very well, and in lieu of me taking a course, this was the only resource I could easily find on the matter.

Hey Andrew ! I would just like to say that you’re very talented at explaining things clearly!
(Also referring to past vids)

Love your vids. I don't understand it all, but I do get some of it. You are a great teacher because you tell why. Why is often more important than how.

Thank you for making this; I'm gonna share it with my friends in my Modern Physics course

You're a life saver 🙏 I have a QM exam over Griffiths' QM book, Ch.3, in a few hours...Read the chapter and still wasn't comfortable with the notation, but you cleared a lot up!

very suspenseful lead into the specific points you are trying to convey, I wish I knew the order or playlist to Dirac notation so I can connect the dots, so to speak, in the learning of the subject, but very well done, in a very cool manner, thinks Andrew.

Thanks man, really great stuff. This makes it much more tangible than the theoretical introduction my textbook gave me.

I genuinely thought that the bra-ket name for the notation was a prank, by either you or Dirac
