I played for the Imperials for a short time before they stopped, @ 12 years ago. Armond gave me a whole set of Imperials CDs -- all albums before 1977. He wanted me to put together tracks of their older songs. I also played keyboard behind them live. We went on a "oldies" tour just to see what God would open up for us. It was awesome! Unfortunately, it wasn't in God's Will. But I have some cool videos..
This was my favorite record. So we went over a lot of the songs, to see what we could incorporate into our set. The guys went with "Sweet Jesus" and "He Loves Me So". It was too high for Jim, so we took it down a few keys. It didn't work out. However, "He Loves Me So" went well.
Beside the joy of getting to know them personally, the real thrill was to see how the people reacted. Tears were flowing and not a soul was seated the whole time. I saw first hand how God used their music to bless hearts for many years. It impacted me greatly. They were the real deal. God shined on them.
