Relaxing in the San Blas Islands | Ep129

Sailing in the far Western Caribbean is a bit hit and miss. The trade winds cannot be relied upon out here. The weather can be squally, idyllic and becalmed all in the same day. Even all in the same hour!
It's interesting sailing and made all the more special by the wildlife.
We had a Bay Chested Warbler drop in in the pouring rain over 100nm from shore and just hang out for a night with us on the boat. These birds are migrating South from Canada for the winter but they should follow the land not be miles out at sea so this little one was very happy to get a ride back to shore.
There's a lot in this episode as we start in the amazing bustling city of Cartagena in Colombia and finish in the paradise Islands of the San Blas, Panama, quite a contrast.

what a beautiful city!…i think i might feel at home there, as i’m from new orleans…the scale of streets and buildings are so similar to our city that has strong spanish influence, even though most of it was rebuilt by the french after the great fire…we also enjoy the festive lifestyle that seems so prevalent there…although our town might be a bit more outwardly “nauti” compared to others…
but what in a beautiful place you are…

A nice episode. Love the drone footage as well as the travelogue of Cartagena. The lobster--btw, you can "tail" them before you boil them. It's just a matter of which method makes you feel less bad.

Any luck with your small air conditioner? I feel for ya, down there. You know, if you spend enough time in that heat your brain gets mushy. James is a perfect example! Glad you got to spend some time with him! He's such a positive and entertaining character.

wow cartagena. im not a city person but i want more more more, i am a foody so maybe its that. but also san blas islands, just mystifying. i think one of your best episodes to date. And laying on the palm tree suits you judy
