LYRICS:
Trapped in purgatory
A lifeless object, alive
Awaiting reprisal
Death will be their acquiescence
The sky is turning red
Return to power draws near
Fall into me, the sky's crimson tears
Abolish the rules made of stone
Pierced from below, souls of my treacherous past
Betrayed by many, now ornaments dripping above
Awaiting the hour of reprisal
Your time slips away
Raining blood
From a lacerated sky
Bleeding its horror
Creating my structure now I shall reign in blood

Slayer naming a song "Raining Blood" on an album called "Reign in Blood" is the most metal thing they could've done

Imagine being 16 years old in 1986 and hearing this for the first one of my all time favorites 34 years later

Reign in Blood was one of those metal albums where back in the 80’s you had to go to someone else’s house just to listen to it because it was so forbidden in yours

I'm in my 60's and me and my band still play the shit out of this at block parties....much to the embarrassment and amazement of our grandchildren. Sounds great too. Never too old to thrash...it just hurts afterwards. Thank God for bourbon and Vicodin.

I’m 52 sitting listening to Slayer on my iPad while I here my 15 year old son in the other room playing raining blood on his newest guitar, ooh what a life. We went to the Slayer farewell stop in Tampa last year with him for his first concert, that goes down as I great memory I will never forget.

I am the 5, 000 year old demon that wrote this song for Slayer in 1986 at the cost of their eternal souls. It brings me such pride to hear mortals still enjoying it to this day. All hail the Metal, the true lord of hell!

Reminds me of my younger brother who took his own life way too soon at 21.. We both loved metal and he was so talented at playing the guitar, I miss him so much.. Rest in peace Ruben, you were the best...
