During the time period I was working on the line, we had a lot of issue with brake squeal, and the only thing that would stop it was a product similar to this BG Stop Squeal. It was like a liquid graphite that you put on the pad friction surface.

We won’t even open your hood for manifolds for less than 7.5hrs per side plus 1hr for each broken bolt. The transit manifolds we do in pairs. 24hrs plus brokens or take it elsewhere.

Comment on jobs coming in over cost - I would say it depends on the dealer. If its my local dealer, I would assume they are trying to scam me based on my experiences with them so far. That said if it were a dealer (or tech if I were allowed to talk to them) that I could trust I would absolutely be willing to do it if it wasn't excessive. If I dropped the truck off for what I assumed would be warranty or a couple hundred bucks, and I haven't been paid yet, I'd be pretty upset if I had an unexpected extra 300 to pay. Years ago I had my 86 Vanagon being worked on by a tech I trusted, quoted me at 2k which was fair for the job. At the end of it he said it was only going to be 1200, i already budgeted for the 2k so I just gave him an 800 tip. Bad experiences with the dealers though - I would have a hard time believing anything I was called about. As far as customer assumptions about warranty, doesn't help when salesman say it covers the moon, then stick the techs and service advisors with telling customers it wont cover XYZ.
