It's often said that war is good for business.
Conflicts drive up demand for weapons, defence equipment and soldiers.
It appears last year was a bumper year.
The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute says global military spending grew to nearly two trillion dollars, a 3.6 percent increase on 2018 and the highest level rise in 10 years.
Five countries - the US, China, India, Russia and Saudi Arabia - account for more than 60 percent of the expenditure.
Will the upward trend continue as the coronavirus pandemic devastates the world's economies?

Saudi doesn't have a 'military'. All of their troops are Pakistanis or other mercs.

ok i get why people criticize the US for increasing military spending but many developing countries are modernizing their armies to adapt to the current level of technology so that they can protect themselves.

India’s military spending of $71 billion was 6.8% higher over its 2018 expenditure. It grew by 259% over a 30-year period stretching from 1990 to 2019 and by 37% over the 2010-19 decade. However, in terms of GDP, New Delhi’s military burden fell from 2.7% in 2010 to 2.4% of GDP in 2019.

Why is the worldwide spending on Military increasing? The same reason it exists in the first place. Fear.

Because if you knew anything about any army, it is about money and contracts.

Not just one reason, but many. Of them all, I believe the most important is: The Antichrist must come in. Socialism has being replacing all Democracies, and lately, even in the USA, Democracy is replaced with IDIOCRACY, where idiots are trying to Govern. As it happens, China is the greatest Socialist-Communist regime in the World. Would we like to be Governed by such ideology? The end conflict will have to do with Freedom, before His Kingdom comes (which we all have prayed, for centuries now; maybe it will come now, with Force).

A little fact about India. Most of the Military budget here spent on paying the salaries and pensions of military personnel. We just invest that in India. We don't have money to buy weapons. We are a poor country.
