This is a review of the Onn "150 Mile Range" Outdoor TV Antenna with built-in rotor. You can find it for $50 at your local Walmart and it seems to be very promising but how well does it work in the long term?

The relectors blew off mine in a good wind, oddly, once they blew off the antenna worked better LOL.

Antenna Man : Great video. You seem to know your' stuff! Like you said. These oriental cheep, inferior plastic, antennas, are just that. If you are in an area that has any wind and Sun (UV) light, they do not last over a year. I have replaced this type antenna every year for a few years because the rotor has quit if used any amount or, the plastic deteriorates from hot Florida Sun and it falls apart.
$18.00 to $39.00 per year isn't bad, most anyone can afford that. it is the time and effort that aggravates me. I am 84 years old. Climbing a ladder is not on my list of favorite things to do. I have lowered my antenna so I don't have to climb but as you say the windy movement of the trees blocks out my signal. These antennas do work pretty decent for a while, but they have no longevity. I built a "Southern Ideas" antenna that's here in you tube. It worked the best of all BUT, after a year The hot Sun did it's thing on the PVC pipe also. I'm thinking I might build another one and try it in the lower position.

As I remember, FM is "Line of Sight" signal while AM follows the curvature of the earth. And you are correct, an antenna is nothing but a "Radio Wave Catcher" Good presentation.

Agree, pulls in lots of channel! Rotator quit after 3 months....I glued it fixed, still works great after 5 years

Love your honest reviews, especially that you show exactly how you've improvised a repeatable (somewhat repeatable considering weather variability) test setup. Transparency and honesty are key ingredients to any good review.
Not a problem, just a story about my antenna installation:
I live in Central Ohio in a small rural town (pop. 11, 000) next to a metal sided, 3 story warehouse and a grain elevator which effectively blocks signals from Columbus (40 miles away) but I have clear line of sight to Dayton (37 miles). My installer erected a Channel Master 4228HD 80 (now called EXTREMEtenna 80) on a chimney mounted mast about 7 years ago. It was one of the first of the pretty Chinese 4228's he had installed and he was fairly honest about the fact he was hoping CM would ship him one of the last of the not-as-pretty, but better designed, Indiana built 4228's. Sure enough, his fears were warranted: 2 years later the signal started failing. I call the installer, he comes out and sees that the Chinese designed balun is flooded with rain water; the instructions that come with the antenna tell you to install it upside down! He reinstalled in, did what he could to waterproof it, and added an inline CM amp and I've been good to go ever since. However, I know that the 4228HD will eventually need a replacement.

I made my own indoor antenna to get the CBS affiliate over the air when it was off U-Verse due to negotiations. I used 2 collapasible whip rods and a 75 to 300 ohm balun. (300 side lugs went 1 to each rabbit ear) .. Careful positioning got me the reception I wanted.

I had a similar antenna lasted 4 years till my crazy neighbor who thought it was a listening device smashed it with a hammer it was still working like the day I bought it. Now I have the onn antenna that he showed I put it up December 2 4th 2018 and I still have it and it works like new. It has survived 3 blizzards/2 ice storms/2 subzero Temps for 2 weeks each/4 wind storms with winds between 40mph to 80mph/and Temps over 100° for a week and some heavy rains And this is NY STATE weather for 2019. And that antenna still works like it's brand new so it will last longer than he said.

It appears (2:54) he set up the ONN 4K HD Motorized Outdoor TV Antenna inside pointed at a window. Did anyone else get the feeling he tested the "outdoor" antenna "indoors?" If so, it would be interesting to test it outdoors just to compare it to his more expensive indoor antennas.

After installing an OTA, can you get a program guide? Your videos are very helpful, thanks!

I have one and it doesn't work very good during high winds or a storm. Also trees interfere but most of the time it works ok.

What is the Max Range you can even attempt to get a station? I find 150 Miles seems a bit far? Height of towers and curvature of earth. Love the videos.

Isn’t there some kind of filter you can add to reduce the noise on the pre amp?
