The Sony Bravia 8 OLED TV is the new 2024 entry in the Sony TV range. It replaces the Sony A80L and the A90L. But what's the difference when we look at the Sony A80L vs Bravia 8? What are the improvements and best new features? Is the Bravia 8 the new best OLED TV category winner. In particular, the best OLED TV Australia has to offer?

In this video, tech vlogger Chris Stead breaks down the differences between the Sony Bravia 8 vs Sony A80L OLED TVs. You'll learn how Sony has dropped QD-OLED for OLED Evo. It also includes demonstrations for:

The new Sony Bravia 8 stand design.
Bravia 8 eco dashboard.
The new Sony Voice Zoom 3.0.
The backlit eco remote.
And more.

Are these the best TV for gaming and the best OLED TV in general? Surely the best OLED TV for PS5! If you're wondering which TV is best, then watch this video.

It's been indicated to me that I made an error with the QD-OLED vs OLED Evo statement about 3-minutes in. Apparently it was the A95L not the A80L that was QD-OLED last gen. I apologise for the error.

What about the banding and smooth gradation of the Bravia 8??

Great vid but at 3:55, the Bravia A80L of last year was a WOLED and not a qd-OLED. It is the A95L which is the QD-OLED model.

Ive had trouble with my A95L and bluetooth audio. With certain movies in from my google library, when listening over a bluetooth headset the language changes to a foreign language. Sony are investigating but haven't got a resolution for this yet.

So therefore im considering getting the bravia 8 instead if the picture is as good as the A95L

The question will be, today, I could buy the 83 inch A80L for the same price as the 77 inch Bravia 8, is the improvement to the XR processor and slightly more brightness worth it to still get the smaller Bravia 8. Price is around 3500 euro in China.

I just ordered a new sony A80L 83" yesterday because I wanted the larger oled size. They say the bravia 8 is brighter. But if I'm not mistaken, the 83" model has a built-in heat sink, so the 83" model gets brighter than the 3 smaller sizes. I just couldn't decide between the b9 85".

How is the sound quality and integration with Quad Speakers of the Bravia 8 compared to Bravia 7 and 9. @stopthefomo concluded that the Bravia 7 and 9 are a big improvement. Is the Bravia 8 to be expected to be better on this respect?

Does the new Bravia 8 still have the same problem all the A80L’s had with the hot spot on the rear that caused a squash ball size pixel error on the top right hand side of the screen?

This is definitely a pointless model especially with its premium price tag.
A G4 should be the only WOLED anyone should consider over QD-Oled at this point...another year another unperceptible 10% brightness increase and a few gimmicks.
My advice would be wait til 2025 when new Mediatek 800 chips start circulating into Sony's line-up offering 4 HDMI2.1 ports and better gaming options like improved refresh rates and faster panels..
Samsung did the dirty on Aussie's too this year with their S90D being WOLED apart from the 55" and 65"
