Moths ‘smell’ food through their antenna (they actually hear food, not smell, but that’s a longer discussion). So if you put a little sugar water on a q-tip and put it close to one of their antenna, they will start trying to seek the food.

I've heard that honey can crystallize inside butterflies and moths, so I've always been hesitant to feed moths with it. Also, I've heard that hummingbird feeder works well as well.

I did this with a butterfly & it worked perfectly, I didn't even need to open its tongue, it just naturally started drinking 😍 I put the mixture in a yellow lid in case the color might help it.

Thank you for this, I recently adopted a moth that won't leave my house and wanted to know how to encourage him to eat. He does fly to the food eventually but he is definitely not eating enough so hopefully this helps 🥰

How the heck are you able to hold it without damaging most of its "fuzz.?" I have a Hawkmoth and because I'm unable to restrain it without half its fur sticking to my fingers- it had to learn how to drink from a hummingbird feeder and find the caps of honey water placed around my apartment. They're too delicate.
