All you have to do now is have a snap mode where it can correct the alignment if it's perfectly vertical or horizontal so you won't have extra measurements because of a not straight line

Everyone saying "it's fake" let me educate you: no, it's not. It is going to work on EVERY iPhone in a few weeks with ARKit. All it uses is a single camera in combination with all the built in sensors like gyroscope, accelerometer, gps etc to get measurement accuracy to 99.5%, no calibration needed. If you think this is so magical that it has to be fake then that just shows how innovative Apple is.

Does the app need any caliberation? How does it know the scale of the objects?

Imagine working on a job site where the blueprints are laid out in a virtual form in front of you. You could just look at where a board should be and it would display it's dimensions. Then you'd walk over to your saw, load a 2x4 into it and it would automatically cut the board to that dimension, then you'd just go tack it in place.

Nice, it's really precise!. How do you manage the verticals plane? Because I see that the ARSessionConfiguration currently can only detect horizontal planes.

Cool concept but a bit misleading. It is not necessarily fake, but there's definitely some information missing. With good SLAM tracking it should be possible to measure distance in some arbitrary units, but in order to have real-world units like inches or centimeters you need some reference in your camera view. The example with the physical ruler is plausible since there's something in the camera view that the phone can read the scale from. Other parts of the video are either fake or are leaving out something, an action that would say to the phone "Hey, this object A you see is X cm, now tell me how long is object B you can see nearby object A". Something like that.
