This was a common look for steps in Britain years ago though it was made with bricks. not veneer.
I like the look.

weird question but can the brick corners be somehow smoothed out? I hate sharp corners on steps.

It’s nice but tbh I don’t like the white painted back part. To me it tells the brain it’s fake right off the bat. Put bricks on the back part now.
