-This lecture (second part) explains the anatomy of the thoracic wall-part 2 (Full Lecture).
At the end of the lecture, the student should be able to:
- Identify and describe the intercostal muscles and their attachments, innervation, and actions.
Intercostal muscles including:
External Intercostal muscle
Internal Intercostal muscle
Innermost Intercostal muscle
and also describe the subcostal and transversus thoracis muscles and endothoracic fascia.
- Identify and describe the anatomy of:
- Intercostal arteries.
- Intercostal veins.
- Intercostal nerves.
- Applied anatomy related to the thoracic wall including the thoracentesis and insertion of chest tube.
