Tony Hawk got me into skateboarding and freerunning. His game did more for me than Skate ever has.

But, after so much reinventing of the series, it lost what made it special. Fun places to skate, solid controls and addicting gameplay.

If I want to play a good Tony Hawk game, I'll dig out my Nintendo 64.

The Skate and Tony Hawk franchise are completely different. They may both have skateboards, but it's really comparing apples and oranges.

This game should honestly be the final nail in the coffin of what once WAS a great franchise. THPS 1-4 were the best. Once THUG came around, it all went to hell.

i bought this for 89$ and its awesome, you can skate like inside your house, its very good to training and having fun

People please understand and here me out. EA SKATE and TONY HAWK games are 2 different games. It's like GRAN TURISMO and NEED FOR SPEED. One game aims to be a simulation and realistic. The other is Arcady, not serious approach and focusing on simple fun.

I can totally see this game not working well. But this reviewer is pretty merciless. Giving the verdict at the very beginning of the review, and say that certain aspects of the game "suck".

the thing that most people don't understand about the tony hawk games is that they're not supposed to be realistic, they're supposed to have an arcade-y cartoon feel, just like top skater used to have, remember that? i bet you don't

SKate is good and all, but THUG 2 is STILL the greatest skating game of all time, great levels, story, and online!

"Underground" was just all around awesome, and "Underground 2" was like Jackass on skateboards, and "American Wasteland" was really good(in my opinion) because of all the new walking feature, and the sheer size of area of gameplay.
So in my opinion, THAW was the last good, and worth purchasing, Tony Hawk games.

Like how you could play as spider man in the second one (and do awesome tricks as him)?
