I bought the SHP9600 and the HD560S for me and my brother and we DEFINITELY preferred the comfort from the SHP9600. We had the same issue as stated in this video wherein the back upper half of the headphone clamped significantly more which didn't exist for the SHP9600. I found that I needed to adjust the HD560S from time to time unlike the SHP9600 which I barely touched after putting them on.

I have both HD560s and SHP9500. I can't use the Sennheiser without intervals to relieve the pressure against my skull, while I can listen to music on the Philips for hours without even touching the phone to adjust something. The sound difference is so subtle that I tend to choose Philips over Sennheiser, just because of the clamping force.

Fun listen on my XM3s. You’ve got a great mic and a smooth voice. Appreciate keeping the music bed low in the mix.

I bought the 9600 for my first open back headphones. They are large enough for ny big ears, which is good. I don't like them for gaming, but that's not why I bought them. Very happy for $60.

Another great video, thanks! Indication of most all-rounder of the bunch is very nice in comparisons like these.

Bought Phillips 9500 for gaming in 2024 and those are amazing better than $250 gaming headset

It's August 2023 and the SHP9600 are $32 on Amazon. It was a no-brainer for me.

This video is all I wanted. I was so confused between these 3 headphones and the Fidelio X2hr as my first Open Back Audiophile grade headphone. Subscribed. But now I'm confused between HD560s and Fidelio X2hr.

Another fabulous video. Keep up the great work. BTW, I never said thanks a couple of weeks ago for your suggestion for an easy-to-use equalizer that might work well for blind people. It didn't, but still thanks for the suggestion.

I don't understand why everyone is putting the SHP's up against the HD560s. HD599 would be more appropiate as it's around the same price (at least where I live).

Great review! Thank you for mentioning that Childish Gambino song! I just got pair of 9600's. While I like them as far as comfort, they are very comfortable. While I don't have any other open-back headphones to compare with, the bass is bloated and undefined in relation to my Audio Technica ATH-MSR7(I realize this is not fair comparing closed-back vs open back). I will most likely send the 9600's back to Amazon and get a better open back pair.

ChuckoBoy, i tried both the Fidelio X2hr and the Hifiman He4xx. On the Vocal department, which is very important to me, the Fidelios sometimes had the vocals a little muddy and far away from you, yet i still preferred them over the He4xx because on the x2hr the vocals are presented in front of you, making it easy to focus on them, and on the He4xx you have some type of "holographic" feeling, where the vocals are somehow between you, where i just couldn't focus on the vocals on it at all. I really disliked it, when im enjoying my songs i like to concentrate on the vocals and be immersed on the surround with all the instruments.
Are the vocals on the Hifiman Sundara similar to those on the he4xx?

*** update* Chuck, they made a second version of the "S" version. I saw the 2nd, 2nd version has a blue box color with the same 6-35kHz markings on the side just like the green boxed version. Just thught you should know Chuck.

I just don't get why some people keep saying the sHP9600s feel boxed in. Not at all, I don't get what people are listening to. Joshua Valour's comparison puts SHP9600 soundstage in the "middle" of the two other headphones he'd compared it to (58x and 9500).

just discovered your channel, a lot of good information, do you have a headphone recommendation list ? at a similar price point including the source would you recommend a full size can or an iem [taking into consideration that an iem can get away with a $10-30 usb dongle dac vs a $100-200 dac/amp required to deliver enough power for full size cans] ? thanks
