Pakistani people should acknowledge the good performance of Pakistan Hockey Team in the recently concluded Azlan Shah Hockey Cup in Ipoh, Malaysia, by winning two hard fought matches by the margin of 5-4 agaist world ranking number 13 Malaysia and the other World ranking number 17, Canada. Against South Korea, World ranking number 12 Pakistan won convincingly by 4-0.Rest of the three matches against New Zealand and Japan were drawn, with the score 2-2, and in the Final against again Pakistan played against japan and the game was a draw by 2-2. Japan won the Gold Medal by winning the Final on penalty shoot out by 4-1. Pakistan wom the Silver Medal and New Zealand won the Bronze Medal. It is a great sign that the sport of Hockey and the Pakistan Hockey team players got cash awards and recognition. I hope they get employments in the departments and their TA & DA from last many years and also some extra benefits so the players are comfortable in their space and are relaxed mentally, physically and economically to perform better in the future. So, all is good at this time, but over adulation can spoil the broth. Let the Pakistan Hockey team players, Coaches and the administrative staff work hard to improve, firstly the World ranking from number 15 to number 10, secondly get into playing the Pro Hockey league played between top world ranking 9 teams, thirdly participate in all international Hockey tournament in particular the tournaments taking place in Europe with test series, win a Gold Medal in Asian Games and Asia Cup and the last thing to get a berth to play in the top two highly prestigious World Hockey Events, Olympics and World Cup. This will take at least 4 to 5 years, so for this a solid Pakistan Hockey Federation should be in place and strong people who played Olympics and World Cups and other prestigious Hockey Tournaments should be appointed as the office bearers.
