if a person edits his DNA at will, then this is his choice, if a person edits the DNA of an ecosystem, then this cannot be done as it will imbalance the system and the consequences will be unpredictable

This is an important conversation. I am hopeful that we'll get to a place where the data, those who volunteer to be a part of the necessary numerous study groups, and other factors/vectors will reflect beneficial and not harmful results. When it comes to protesting due to parasitical business models, I am fully supportive. It is not rocket science to come to the understanding that companies and wealthy investors can and do place profit first and then the health and well-being of the clients of their products second.
