Always been aggravated that Excel is as old as it is and we have to still do the same kludgy hacks we had to in the 1990's. This is one of hundreds.

I found a way that may be more versatile and that works with single cells or merged cells.
1. Select the (mergerd) cell.
2. Don't enter anything in the cell; or, delete everything in the cell.
3. Create a text box that locks its sides to the cell's sides.
4. Format the box's fill to No fill. Using No fill allows using the cell's fill color as the background.
5. Format the box's Line as No line or Solid line as desired. Using No line may clash with formatting the cell fill and line preferences.
6. Type in the required text in the box without leading or following spaces to adjust text placement. In this case, type "Month" followed by a hard return, then type "Company". Go back and right justify "Month". Format the text as desired with boldface, color, etc.
7. In the box's Text Options, set the interior margins to place the text as appropriate.
8. Exit the box and add the borders and fill as shown in the video.
