2 Comparators
1 Repeaters
4 Redstone Dust
2 Redstone Torches
2 Sticky Pistons
(1 normal piston if on java/legacy console)
1 Soul Sand
1 Magma Block

Hey, Silent, I dont know if this is fail safe, but it works for me....everyone says you have to have source blocks all the way up, but ive found I can make a 2 block wide tube up as high as I want, with 1 block dug down at the opening. Place signs on either side to keep water from flowing out of your double block wide opening then at the top place 2 water blocks; they fill the tube all the way down with source blocks except 1 or 2 at the bottom. Then I can put soul sand on one side of tube and magma block on other and (after a couple minutes to figure out which blocks at the bottom need to be made into source blocks, voila! Up and down elevator shafts as high as you want!

This build works 12/10/2023 MC Pocket Edition. I do not need pulse extender for my build - y:0 up to y:53. when i travel down i do need to get out of elevator fast or else i get pushed back to top :D I love this build, simple and efective! i recommend it to others.

Followed this exactly and it pulls the magma block back and pushes the soul sand in place but doesn’t reset itself hear the click from the pressure plate turn off but it’s have to break the red dust line to reset it and also tried with and without the extra piston mentioned for console players

I wanted to add that the design still works in 1.18.2 if the repeater is left at 0 ticks instead of 1, keeping the water from flowing down and knocking out the comparator under the magma block.

Instead of that third piston you can use observer facing to the torch and it works same as with the piston
