nd46 sounds killer on a guitar cabinet

In my home studio, Ive been using cheap BEHRINGER C1 condensers with better than expected results on overheads. I love that they're airy and open, but they do lack warmth.
Im about to purchase a pair of HEIL PR31BW for drum overheads. (Same as a PR30, but with a smaller capsule) .
I want that large diaphragm dynamic warmth in my cymbals.

However the price is about 600 for a pair of them. That's more than I would really like to spend for a modestly treated home studio.

What are your thoughts on using the ND44 or ND46 instead? After all, they're both high SPL handling, large diaphragm dynamic mics, same as HEIL, and half the price
