Netanyahu rejects calls for developing Palestinian state after Gaza war

A spokesperson for the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has insisted there can be “no security and stability in the region” without the creation of a Palestinian state. It follows remarks by the Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu - who rejected US calls to begin developing a Palestinian state after the Gaza war.

This is despite President Biden reiterating his strong conviction for a two-state solution. With no let up in the fighting in Gaza - there's also been violence in the occupied West Bank.

I keep hearing that the two state solution is not viable as the Israeli settlers are now in their hundreds of thousands in the occupied territories and entrenched in those regions. Well, these settlers might have to move to wherever they came from in order to establish a Palestinian state. They knew fully well that their actions were illegal according to international law. Let them face the at least some of the repercussions of their actions.

The Palestinians need to have sovereignty over their own state moving forward as Israel has shown that they have not and will not adequately look after the Palestinian people. End of discussion. It’s outrageous that Israel believes that it has the right to decide who will govern another country!! Clearly they have been allowed to get away with so much for so long that they feel they can do anything now. Further to this, Israel should have to foot the bill bill for the reconstruction of Gaza in addition to all of the ongoing medical & psychiatric bills for the Palestinian people they have hurt & orphaned.
