What's the best way to remove it if they did actually use mortar and screws to hold down the cement board

My demo bff is the full-size roofing stripper. Awesome ergonomics, huge leverage, slips in between layers like a champ.

Another great hack is cut the flooring into 12”-24” squares using a circular saw. The squares come up far more easily and fit in a trash can.
