I don't know what the previous videos were about, but the original (not-implemented) language to query was ALPHA, which was based on Relational Calculus, which means it had a bunch of spooky symbols like the negation symbol (¬), existential (∃) and universal quantifiers (∀)). This is the reason why people created QBE and SQL.
