If you actually analyze this, its very wholesome. You see the genuine concern of a parent who cares for his child even through their adulthood. He consistently warned against various dangers, and he explained why he was doing things as best he could. I feel like this is what a good father looks like.

For anyone wondering, all this advice is really old. With any modern batteries as long as you don’t connect them backwards you can connect the terminals right to each other in any order.


If you’re curious why you used to have to do this, it’s because old car batteries didn’t have a sealed and effective way of venting off the hydrogen gas byproduct relative to modern batteries.

So, you would connect the positive terminals first, and then connect one of the negative to a metal part of the car since most of the frame and other components are shorted to the battery negative, which means you can keep any sparks while connecting away from the explosive hydrogen gas coming from the battery.
