This phone is a tank! Just got mine today in the red color! I wanted the Grey one buy they were out :( I also wasn't a fan of the camo either.

I got this phone as a graduation gift from college. It is also the camouflage color. It's an excellent phone!

i had the s3 and loved it. i just bought this phone less than 2 weeks ago. i am very rough on phones and thought this would would work for me.  i had it sitting on my mowing trailer and it got bumped off while i was working on the mower and it fell less than a foot onto concrete and landed on the screen.  the screen broke-even with the screen protector film on it.  what a joke!  of course insurance wont fix it($200 deductible) might as well get rid of insurance and just buy a new phone.  for this phone being so rugged and tough i am thoroughly dissapointed. should have just bought the s5 and got a good case.

I like the s5 active it's really nice in the long run it will save you money you will not need a case so you save 60 or 100 bucks on a case I work in a auto mechanic shop I change oil so this phone will be good for me

I'm curious why no one mentions the military grading which also confirms resistance to salt, sand, solar radiation, etc.?

I am thinking on getting the Samsung s6 but again the s6 has no ad card slot or removable battery so I might get the s5 active cause of the ad card slot and removable battery but the Samsung s6 has a 5.1 inch quad super amaled screen

Also the normal s5 has lasted upwards from an hour under water and even in a washing machine so...

The active also has a usb 2.0 and not 3 like the reg. s5.

I notice you said that they both have the same resistance, however isn't this false since although they do have the same IP rating the active is MIL-STD-810G certified meaning it is more resistance to other things such as salt, dust, etc.
I guess in short S5 active sea worth whereas S5 not salt water friendly.

I purchased this phone over the S5 for one reason; It has the same charging port as my S4, and I really didn't want to go out and replace all of the chargers that I have around the house and in the car. The bonus is that I do not have to purchase a case. Word.

Is the screen scratch proof? Or does it still need a screen protector?

This phone looks nice on picture and video but once I got my hands on this I realized how flimsy it is. This is not worth the title rugged. I have used Galaxy Rugby Pro from Samsung. They did it right with that one. Dropped it many time still going strong without any case.
