What we need is an eevee parallel, who starts as a dragon type, but becomes the various physical types through evolution.

It literally has nothing to do with the physical special split.
Flareon, vaporeon and Jolteon were just used as stone evos.
Umbreon and Espeon were there because gamefreak added the day and night cycle in gen 2.
Leafeon and Glaceon were made because they wanted evolutions that were based on location rather than a certain level, hence the moss and icy rock.
Finally Sylveon was to market off the new fairy type.

As of Gen 4, there are no more "physical" and "special" typings. It is only differentiated in pokemon moves. This means that a type like Fighting can be either physical (e.g. brick break) or special (e.g. aura sphere).

Did you know that Game Freak actually planned to have a flying type evelution in Gen 7 but because the design was so close to fanart they scrapped it so technically if that fanart didn't exist we would have had a flying type evelution for eevee.

When i want to remeber what categories the type were in older generations i always remember every Eevelution type+ dragon is special and the rest are phisical

Also merchandising, they pretty much cemented the 8 current ones as the only ones with the amount of stuff made specifically for all of them, and with how popular they are, it’d be difficult to introduce a 9th or 10th after all these years

I hope they make something akin to "Hisuian" Eevelutions, where they would swap types, but keep their stat distribution. So say for example "Hisiuan" Eevee transforms into Rockeon or whatever, that could work.

Dragon was a special attacking type and also Fairy was made after the physical special split, also I see lots of people saying Ghost was special, Ghost was physical, not special

I think just giving Eevee all pokemon types would be pretty cool. Imagine a ghost, poison, steel and dragon types.

Eeveelutions are introduced to show off a new mechanic
Espeon/Umbreon: Day/Night + friendship
Glaceon/Leafeon: Location evolutions
Sylveon: Fairy type

So it should be logical that the next eeveelution will be tied to a mechanic in gen 10/11
