The information about using Hay bales is missing a lot of information. For example, you can condition the bales in 14 days and have them ready to plant. I tried Hay bales gardening in Houston this past season and it was very successful. It's really great for people who live where they can't put in a permanent garden or afford raised beds or have bad soil. The one difference in our area as opposed to others is that I don't think we could ever get two seasons out of the Bales because they break down pretty fast. But I now havevsome premium compost for my fall garden.

I've been in the gardens for 40+ years and this is the FIRST time I've seen a hammer used to prep a planting bed. :-p
