Show Thumbnails Instead of Icons in VLC Videos 2024 | VLC thumbnails not showing

if you want to show thumbnail for your video instead of VLC icon, follow this video step by step. You haven't mentioned which version of Windows you're running. I'm running Windows 8.1 so I'll give you instructions on how to check how you've configured it. The menus look slightly different than Windows 10, but the principle is the same.

Hit Windows key + E to open File Explorer.
Click the word View on the top toolbar.
Click the Options button on the far right.
In the menu which opens click the View tab
Remove the checkmark from "Always show icons never thumbnails".
Apply/OK to save and exit

There is no reason to click Apply if you are going to next click OK. "Apply" only serves to save your changes without closing out the window. Just saying.
