Unboxing Better Together - Illumicrate December 2022

Finally a return to boxes that I love to open! The December Illumicrate box had the least consistent theme of any box ever, but I love all of the items individually. The book could have been better, Fairyloot and Illumicrate have made some stunning editions this year, but overall the Better Together box was a good addition to their boxes this year.

Well said about the whole issue with the calendar. I agree Illumicrate are an extremely diverse and inclusive company. It depends on books they use and what characters they use that are known

Us in the States just got our December 2022 box today! A slight difference is our book doesn't come in that yellow bag thingy. Ours is like, shrink wrapped in plastic.
Overall, wasn't super happy with the box, comparing it to Januaries 2023's.

Aah, I'm only slightly disappointed I skipped this because that pin!!! I love it. Don't love the other items, but they're alright, and I don't care much for the book. Glad you're happier about this one than the November box 😊 I'm really looking forward to the January one as well!

I love the items in this box, that calendar is so useful! We got one from FairyLoot a couple of years ago and I never used it, and I didn't even display it. The sprayed edges are pretty :) That books sounds interesting, and now I feel like I need to pay attention to new releases as I've not heard this mentioned before!

They did a GREAT job with all the item choices this month, great designs too! Agree that the calendar should’ve been labelled, BRILLIANT quality calendar though! Personally, I think with it being pretty huge in size, it should’ve included boxes so we could write under each day, it’s kinda massive for something that can’t be used? ADORE the crescent city item. The book was pretty middle ground which I’m happy with. Very spacey, nothing mind blowing but I’m not disappointed either - really like the simple foil design actually and the edges match the cover well. I just want stand out/unique redesigned covers 🙈

I really liked this box. Will be honest wasn’t keen on the book choice (not a big sci-fi fan) but I’ll give it a go. The cover is pretty too.

The items were cool in this box! I'm not typically one to criticize art (because we all have our own tastes) but that calendar is definitely not my cup of tea 😬. I am totally in love with that pin though, so jealous!

I was super pleased to see a desk calendar but considering how big it is, it lacks a practical side because there's not really much space to write near the dates. Was a bit disappointed with the book edges but we have been spoilt in previous months 🙈

This box is definitely a bit better already! A huge fan of the mug so I immediately ordered it on vinted for quite a good price :D

with illumicrate for the last year ive realised the more excited i am for the book the more disappointed i am by the box. my biggesdt grumble though is again i have a calander with no idea who the pictures are, would it kill them to label the images?
i also couldnt believe that the red scholar has been made blue and purple, i need to lower my expectation when im excited by the book.

I do not understand this calendar. What is the flappy bit at the bottom?? It doesn't allow the calendar to stand up when you flip it to the front or back. And it's weird just inline with the calendar itself. WHAT IS THIS AND HOW DO I USE IT

dec on the calender is apparently spinning silver, And ive already sold my calender and CC item haha and trying to sell the mug. I only got this box for CC so that item was.... very dissappointing. I do like the design on the book, i really like the colours. However that book has a lot to live up to coz my fave sci-fi book is litrally.... a sentient space ship (the ship who searched by anne mccaffrey) but they go looking for archaeology sites of older alien races.

all up i did think the box was worth the money, but i am VERY excited for Jans books from fl and IC and at least fl for feb (unsure about ic yet...)
