Seems that after 15 years GM did nothing related to problem of the timing chains failure in their 2.0 , 2.2 , 2.4 family gasoline engines.
Do not belive that timing chain can withstand more than 150 000 km of mileage in modern gasoline turbocharged engines.

This one is 2.0t NHT/LDK engine in opel Insignia. After 3 years and 110 000 km driven. Engine was always warm up before fast driving.
Repair cost is high because the parts in EU costs crazy money and job require 5-10 hours at workshop. There are 2 chains in this engine.

Happily this is not 2.8t timing chain where costs are even higher.

just to explain:
- the engine above had oil service every 10-15k km
- car (mostly) was properly war-up before full throttle...however this could be a factor here.
- don`t expect from modern engines timing gear chain to be maintenance free (like me ;-) )

I think the similar problems exists in TFSI family and now with bmw 328i/528i engine (oil pump gear driven by timing chain fails). Same problem happens with older 1.6t BMW , 1.4t+c VAG..

PS. If that black piece of plastic rail would not be replaced , one day the whole part will broke like here (same engine):
