Art Project for West Suffolk Hospital Day Surgery Unit & Eye Clinic 2017
Показать описание
In 2016 I began working on an art project to beautify the Day Surgery Unit & Eye Clinic at West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St. Edmunds. They asked me to add art to the frosted windows that separate 2 areas in the clinic, without blocking the light that shines through the windows.
I decided to create a digital piece of art spanning the 6 windows and have them printed on transparent film, so that the art would act like a stained glass window. I chose an aquarium theme, since the windows looked like an indoor aquarium to me. The staff really liked the idea too, so we started on the project.
I finished creating the art during the new year holidays. By April 2017 we had the panels printed by a company called GSigns, and I spent a weekend at the clinic painting the walls around the windows to match the aquarium theme. Mid-month, we installed the art to the glass and the project was complete.
Many thanks to the staff in the hospital for all their help, tea, biscuits and enthusiasm for the project. And thanks to Julie Pettitte, Estates Manager at the hospital for coordinating everything.
West Suffolk Hospital and their staff do an amazing job every day and it was a pleasure to give them something to help brighten their work days, and that of the patients too.
Thanks.
