She buys expensive things for her kids.. Clothes, shoes, electronics, also for herself. I’m sure she eats out 2-3 days a week. When someone says they can’t stay on budget, it’s because of all the things that don’t make the budget. I’m sure those Jordans for basketball camp weren’t in the budget. Yes, I’m making wild assumptions, because they are generally the case.

She has a spending problem. I'm a retired Marine and $2, 200 of that is tax free. She gets twice as much there as she does from her regular job post tax.

It has been seven years, I would like to know how your life is today. Did you follow Dave's advice, are you still following the 7 steps today. God bless you and your family. I was military also, divorced, male, overseas with a 7 month old son. With the military support group I persevered. Stumbled upon Dave Ramsey, listened and followed the principles. Debt free except my home, will pay it off in three years.

Am I the only one who picks up furniture that people sit out on the curb? Dogs, cats, kids - new furniture is just wasting money here. No used mattresses though ;)
