£500 Phase 1 Peugeot 205 Tour

A quick walk around a 1985 Peugeot 205 i bought recently for £500.
With values of all 205s on the rise now is the time to buy, the GTI's go for silly money but even the diesels are starting to creep up in value.

The phase 1 is rarer nowadays due to its age, it has the older style dash that looks similar to my 305's although inferior in most peoples eyes i just wanted it as i had one before and its a bit more quirky than the later dash.

This 205 is not without its issues but they all seem fixable, it will never be a show winner but i hope to get rid of the worst bits of rust and put it through the MOT. This is a very usable modern classic with a very economical and reliable engine these cars can cover huge mileages whilst sipping very little fuel.

Already i have bought 4 spare doors from a 309 that was being broken, a roof and sunroof slider and a door handle. If anyone knows of phase 1 205s being broken for spare parts, or spare parts that are available i would be glad to hear any information.

Ich habe einen roten 206 1.4i von 1999 mit Panoramadach für €100 Euro gekauft. Sie haben ihn weggeworfen, weil die Zylinderkopfdichtung kaputt war. Repariert und aufpoliert ist er großartig.

Bumpers were dark gray colour from factory if I'm not mistaken

In Theory, What a shed. The total cost to fix all this would technically write off the car
In Reality: they’re getting scarce and parts will hopefully be easy to get

Hi there….I"m from your part of the world ( Co Down) but am living in France...The mechanics here are really shit and the scrap yards are double dear...I bought a 205 here in September, 1.1 GL 1986 with the XW7 petrol engine...It has an oil leak from around the number 4 exhaust manifold or between the head and the block...it's not leaking compression or oil into the ware or vice versa so I suspect it could be an oil gallery leaking from the head gasket...the garages here are quoting really silly prices...I retorqued the head and this has reduced it but was considering tackling the head gasket myself...the only problem seems to be the danger of disturbing the wet liners...do you know anything about these engines...TIA...Alex
