As a gym rat, i would like to thank everyone who buys a subscription but doesn't show up for subsidising my lifestyle

Peak journalism. This is what news should ACTUALLY be about

The reason you weren't at the gym on December 31st will be the same reason you're not there on January 31st.

That “hopefully” tells me she doesn’t go anymore

I'm gonna give this gym thing a try tomorrow. Surely I can undo years of bad habits in just 1-2 weeks of looking at my phone while walking on a slight incline for 20 minutes at the gym right?

If you want to get fit, why wait until the next year to do it? It shows a total lack of resolve and self-discipline.

if you rely on a date to start working out you probabbly wont be there for long

New years resolutions should be everyday. Not just on January 1st. If you weren't consistent the day before, you won't be consistent after January 1st. So why bother showing up?

Gyms should be putting up informational signs around new years (such as about the importance of diet, rep ranges for strength/hypertrophy, training to failure, etc.) I think the reason a lot of people quit the gym is they do it wrong, dont see results, and give up, but I think with the right information a lot more people will end up getting results and sticking to it

I support anyone who says “this is my year” and puts in the work and stays consistent. But the month of January is truly an annoying time for avid gym goers

"Yes...well yes, I was...yeah."

A true statement of all time.

I feel bad for all the people who have been already going to the gym. It is definitely a nice experience to help others out though!

The fact that people wait until New Year’s to get fit already tells me they’re doomed to fail. That tells me that it’s a special occasion for them to get fit. I go to the gym as often as I can and only take two days off to rest or for a special holiday like Christmas or Thanksgiving.

Master Roshi once said: “You seem to forget that training is supposed to be a daily activity! Not something you do on special occasions!”.

When I was in college, the crowd at the start of the fall semester in the school gym was even bigger than any January crowd I've seen.

The new year resolutioner's simply overdo it. They go 5-7 times a week and then get really annoyed for obvious reasons and decide to stop. Start by going 1-3 times a week and focus on cleaning up your nutrition. Those progressions will come naturally as you make sure to stay consistent. All of a sudden you'll find yourself reading strength training/ fitness blogs late at night after a nice round of hill sprints as you carefully plan your next 5 a.m. workout. Be patient, don't stress yourself too much, but be consistent.

I would personally like to thank all the new year's resolutioners who stop showing up after a week because that's how my gym affords new machines 🙏

Mom: "Why didn't you do the dishes?"
Me: "Well, yes, I was, yes."
