Matt, i have no success when add weight to my texas rigs. Am i doing something wrong? I have stopped to add weight to my texas rigs completely. We are bank fishing only and then in heavy grass farm dams here in my hometown in South Africa and with weights my texas rigs just do not work.

When do you peg your weight on a Texas rig?

So I struggle at times deciding whether or not I should be using a T rig or jig with lots of action- like a trailer that really kicks- or should I be throwing something with dead action and just a good profile. I know everyone says "Let the fish tell you..." but- when you don't have electronics and are fishing blind, that gets tricky. Are you not getting bit because it's the wrong action/bait- or are you not getting bit because there aren't any bass around- you don't know. Only thing I know to do is have both rigged up and just try it all until something bites but- often nothing ever does, and you really don't know why. I always assume it was probably because they weren't around because I feel even if I'm fishing the wrong thing, if I cover the whole column, I should at least get a bump or something- if not, they probably weren't around. Right?

I may be a little bias toward the jig probably because I love to fish them so dang much, if there is a conundrum between the two I will always try to get them going on a jig first, good thoughts on the subject and I will for sure take that with me on the water, thanks man !!
