Adelaide was destined to be destroyed in an earthquake and tsunami in 1976 according to religious zealot and clairvoyant, John Nash. A punishment for it wicked, wicked ways.

I was just saying to my sister 3 days ago that in 1976 I stood at the windows of the Modbury hospital
and waited for the tidal wave to come. I was a 2nd year student nurse and was ready for the drama to hit. I remember Mr Don Dunstan standing at Glenelg with his big group of followers. What a surprise when this showed up tonight on my YouTube feed.😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

I was telling a friend about this and looked it up online to find yr vid. My grandmother owned a house in Marino Rocks and spent the morning on her balcony with her unrestricted views of the gulf and city to watch the wave roll through. I remember as a child my mother called her to see how the calamitous event was going - I specifically recall lots of laughing during the call. Great to see the non-event is not entirely forgotten.

I was a 15 year old in that crowd. Big day for me. I got to see DD himself who I had a major boy crush on. He was just so classy and beautiful and so well spoken to my young, idealistic mind. He had a real aura about him. It was also the day I had my very first beer at the Pier Hotel. Apart from the local SANFL games which I attended most Saturdays with my neighbour, avid Tigers supporter, Rosie Black (who I also had a crush on; she would lift me over the fence at the end of the games and I would run like the clappers with my red covered autograph book with rainbow coloured pages to get it signed by captain Marker, Kernahan, Cornes, the Phyllis brothers...) I think it was the largest crowd I had seen til then. The story I was told is that Nash went interstate and was caught up in floods but it seems that is just an urban legend. Born at Glenelg I will always remember this weird and ludicrous event. I had no idea of the back story. Rosie, where are you?
