I don't have one bad thing to say about this movie. I sat up all night watching it and just got through it at 2:41am. I haven't watched a movie all the way through or into the wee hours in as long as I can remember. Great acting. I thought I was back in the time when the actual events were happening for most of the movie. Whoever Ariel Vromen is, he needs to direct some more true story movies. Great work. As a side note, I believe Marwan was murdered; and for some reason, I feel like the conspiracy to murder him came from Israel (with their multi-faction Mossad). Marwan had brass balls all the way through. You don't find men like him today.

Guys, you should watch the movie first. It does not define that the angel has took sides but it somehow shows that Ashraf played both Israel and Egypt in order to make peace since Israel was such arrogant not accepting peace. It shows sadat as a good president too.

First part I thought Marwan is a traitor for Egypt but went I fully understand his true motives, (or maybe the motives of Sadat and his cabinet members).
That sacrifices have to be made, even reputation has to be put in jeopardy, so that land and ultimate destruction of one country and the deaths of
millions on both side. could be prevented.

As Egyptian i can say it will be a great movie but i think the movie will not tell the truth.
but I hope to see answers in this movie
الفيلم هيكون كويس جدا ... بس طبعا مش هيقول الحقيقة او هنتفرج عالفيلم كفيلم درامي حربي مش كحقيقة مسلم بيها

Almost all of these comments seem to be knee-jerk reactions from people who probably haven't even seen the film. I found it to be a surprisingly nuanced and gripping spy thriller which leaves the question of whose side Ashraf Marwan was really on open to interpretation. I'd encourage people to at least watch it before passing judgement.

I usually find a ton of plot holes or other things to nitpick in historical films, but I had very few complaints about this one. Most of the various characters' choices are actually rational, and those which are irrational are well-founded in explicable and earned emotion. I really don't understand why some critics found it boring - if anything, the pace is a little bit too fast at times, although it kept me intrigued throughout.

I'm having a "watch anything with Marwan kenzari in it" kind of phase

Terrific film. Ari's come such a long way. Can't wait for what he comes out with next. This film was exquisitely detailed and acted.

I was impressed by The Spy Who Fell to Earth. Don't think this will near as good.

This content is not for myopes who cry bias every time they don’t find one sided demonisation that fits their views. It’s a portrait of complex choices in a troubled region.

Anybody who says that this movie shows Israel as a victim hasn't actually watched it. Very realistic, objective and informative.

The movie is brilliant. It shows events in a chronological and factual order with great acting. It's left to the viewers to draw judgements on who is right or wrong.
Don't be prejudiced against the movie you'll miss out

I am extremely skeptical this will be historically accurate.

Ashraf Marwan, was on Egypt's side and the info he informed the enemy about was all known by the Egyptian army and they told him what to say and what not. So the Israelis thought that he was helping them or that he was a double agent but he wasn't. He informed them about the day of war 3 times the first two were lies and the third time was true, they didnt believe him on the 3rd time so they lost the war, and even if they did they'd still lose because he said it was going to be on 6pm and the war was at 2pm.
