PC-24 – First RFDS Landing on an Unpaved Strip in the Australian Outback

The very first PC-24 of the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (RFDS Central Operations) with serial number 118 arrived in Australia in April 2019. A few days later, the first landings on unpaved strips went ahead in Kingoonya, a small and almost totally abandoned farming settlement in the central outback of the Australian state of South Australia.

The PC-24 is the first business jet worldwide designed to take off and land on very short or unpaved runways, and to come with a cargo door as standard. It also boasts an extremely spacious cabin whose interior can easily be adapted to personal requirements. The outstanding flexibility of the PC-24 opens the door on an enviable spectrum of possibilities – whether as a business jet or ambulance aircraft. All this makes it a Super Versatile Jet, an aircraft designed to fulfil a wide variety of individual mission profiles.

This is a game changer for us here in Australia, The PC24 will provide best medical airlift care and halve the time to get patients to a larger city. Well done Pilatus and RFDS. love this aircraft.

Sensational camerawork, flying, editing, magnificent video, having spent a lot of time in the vast unforgiving Aussie outback, if i was injured the sight of the RFDS coming in would be indescribable.

I can’t watch this video without being moved to tears. So many unsung heroes in this world... sometimes they wear first responder vests, sometimes they fly business jets onto dirt airstrips to help those who can’t help themselves. So grateful to everyone that puts themselves out there to aid another person. God bless them and God bless Australia 🇦🇺... you are so awesome!

For those watching these RFDS aircraft are the lifeline of our Aussie Farmers. Also most farms have an airstrip as well. I hope Pilatus Aircraft Ltd are able to work with the RFDS to roll out additional PC-24 jets across more of their bases.
