Lesson 8.02 - Multiplying Polynomials with Algebra Tiles

In Lesson 8.01, the learner was introduced to the concept of adding and subtracting polynomials. Today, we focus on multiplying them. We're actually going to spend THREE classes (8.02 - 8.04) multiplying polynomials because it's considerably more tricky than adding or subtracting them. We take today to show students what Algebra tiles are because this gives a concrete example of what multiplying polynomials is actually doing: finding the area of a rectangle. Students are also shown a more efficient way to multiply in the form of the box/array/area model.
