Best 4x4 is the one you can afford and use. They all get the job done. Also when i get to camp the first thing to do is as little as possible.

The best 4x4 ever made is the one you pull your buddy out of a bog with.

The Best 4WD ever made is, without doubt, the UNIMOG .

Toyota 80series Sahara land cruiser 1995-1997. Best 4wd ever built.

Solid axel coils all round, 1hd-ft 24valve factory turbo 6cyc, Factory front and rear diff lockers!

The best all round 4wd, has to be the 80 series cruiser. Comfort, capability and reliability. The HDJ80 has is all.
When I get to camp the first thing I do is crack a beer and spend 20 mins checking out the area before setting up.
Love ya channel Ronny.

Toyota Landcruiser 80 series 12 valve. Bomb proof, go anywhere, great on motorways too, full time four wheel drive and more comfortable than 70+ series yet still a work horse plus it’s the best looking so far.

I would say the Mercedes G-class. The W461 late 90's early 2000's, these has been mass produced to the military all over world. Nothing beats the reliability of an old Mercedes diesel.

Definitely GU Coil Cab Ute - Solid axle, coils, big straight 6, massive aftermarket support.

First thing I do at camp is roll out the awning because it's always raining down here in Vic

Land rover Discovery 1 300tdi has been the best 4wd I ever owned, I've also owned 80s, GUs, XJ Jeeps and will always go back to a Land Rover, I've put them all through the same tracks, same conditions, same weather, the Disco is the only 1 that got me out there and home again without fail

Hands down best 4wd out there is a Defender either a perentie with the 4bd1 or 300tdi they are unkillable engines and the suspension setups with ladder chassis are the best factory setups you can get, also able to get them in so many different styles, shapes and setups. definitely most underrated pick

I think the best 4x4 is the Land Rover Defender! Defenders have no haters, just fans in denial 😜 (also the friendliest community out there)

Landrover defender with the flappy airvent panels under the windscreen.

The best and most versatile 4x4 is amazingly a Discovery 3 once you sort out the Land Rover factory idiosyncrasy's and service it regularly - then you can a vehicle that can carry a pallet of concrete blocks or Ford Racing V8 with space to spare and you still get over 450000 kms after 17 years of loyal service.

Land rover perentie. I've never been in one, and probably wouldn't recommend any other land rover, but I've heard from mates and mechanics that they do what they are built to, and seeing them in television and films doing just that. First saw one going all over Australia in bush tucker man, driven by major Les Hiddens.

Otherwise, I've been in my dad's 80 series from Darwin to Esperance and everything in between a couple of times, he kept it in mint condition from brand new. He looked after it for 30 years and it looked after us. All it had was a stainless steal exhaust and regular Toyota servicing and it was a perfectly capable tourer for a family of 6!

Love my cruiser but will always have a soft spot for my old Landy.
Landy!

Best 4x4 ever made is the landcruiser PX-10.
First thing to do when pulling up for camp, quick walk around check for croc tracks, long grass fire potentials and bull ants nest. Then tins.

Objectively it's the FZJ105 series landcruiser.
Twin fuel tanks with twin pumps for redundancy.
Factory front and rear diff lockers.
Solid front and rear axles.
Reliable inline six petrol that's easy to work on, has a timing chain that lasts forever and coil packs. Holds huge power when turbocharged.
Can be had with leather and sunroof for luxury. Its extremely quiet inside and well put together.
Has front driver and passenger airbags.
