[One on One with Kobe Bryant] Episode 1: Kobe vs. Isaiah 'J.R.' Rider

I'm starting a series with this video, showcasing various moments of 1 on 1 with Kobe throughout his amateur and professional careers, but it's not just 1 on 1 games. Expect recaps of clutch moments, trash talking, Kobe destroying his competition, and more.

This is episode 1, in which 20-year old Kobe took on a veteran Isaiah Rider in practice, 1 on 1 to 10 points, because Rider kept talking shit. The event took place in summer of 2000, and several Lakers share their recollection of the classic Mamba moment.

The most impressive thing about Kobe is that he was able to do Jordan's moves against the defenders without the benefit of the illegal defense rule. Those patented MJ fadeaways are more difficult to do when you can't isolate your defender on an island. Without the illegal defense rule, you have to get into your move faster and have a quicker reaction time.
