Sometimes the position of the windows, to suit a particular purpose INSIDE the room, is more relevant than what ppl see outside.

It’s called a lintel in my part of the world, and generally lintel heights are consistent around the house. If the lintel height differs it’s usually because the use of the room it’s in dictates it, such as if a kitchen benchtop is forming the sill of the window (splash back windows are trendy these days), or if you have a taller door or window at a gable end.

there are so many different situations where it doesn't, as long as it's done right. That transom window on the first house is up too high for sure, and the window pattern on the second house, despite being the same height, looks like crap

Also, place the header high to the double top plates, then cripple down

Isnt that decided during the architectural stage where you're designing the house? Dont builders get cranky when you deviate from the prints?

Yes, it matters to me. My build has all windows the same height except the bathroom in the back of the house ( sets my OCD off).

It matters inside WAY more. Doors and windows finish needs to be the same inside.

Also, be sure to check your roof pitch in relation to the window height. Don't want the soffit running into the top of your window...

Gen X and what's left of the boomers were some of the dest quality builders in America, today the technology is more important, the old school ways will always be the best ways, people need more steel for structural in homes most custom do, the home technology takes away from the character modern homes ate not living with the land they are on the land, timber frame homes are great

You should put the sills at the same height, not the headers. Looks like you built the wall upside down.

Just make the whoel.wall a window header
