Vectrex iOS Review (iPad)

The Vectrex home console was a bit of an anomaly back in the early 80s, with it's vector based graphics, built in TV and analog joysticks. Now that classic & rare console has been lovingly brought to the iOS platform along with many of the games. I review the iPad version along with the iCade and come away impressed!

Had a Vectrex and loved it. Got it the same year that i got a Tomytronic handheld Tron game. The 80's fucking ruled!

I remember going over to my friend's house to play this. It was his older brother's, but even 8 years after it came out, we were impressed. It came out a year after we were born, so it really wasn't a part of our generation. Nevertheless, it's still a part of my childhood, and because of that, it's my favorite system.

One of the main reasons Vectrex games don't often have the color overlays included when you see them for sale now is because many sellers purchased a Vec multicart and sold off their boxed games while keeping their overlays.

Brings back memories, I bought one once about 10 years ago at a car boot sale with 3 games for 5 pounds, it took 5 minutes to actually work properly, there was a minor problem with it, I recon it was a dry joint some where.after that It would work all day.to be honest I think it was a 5 minute wonder.so I sold it for 50 pounds. The iCade is supported by a lot of games actually. Lots of platformers, shmups and other games will have optional support for the iCade and other bluetooth controllers.

Its actually quite interesting, I can see this becoming quite popular for people who don't have the budgets to own an authentic vectrex and the games that come with it.
