Craig hit the nail of the head
Pre Battered food is what the air fryers do well
Instead of deep frying freezer food chuck in air fryer for less smell and better health (less oil) & safer for kids to use to make they own food sometimes compared to a vat of oil steaming hot

Air fryers do not deep fry which is what is required for battered fish, however, we buy frozen battered fish products and they turn out really well. Fish and chips in the COSORI air fryer using the frozen fish and home cut chips, is a favourite in our house .

All the recipes I’ve seen, you cant cook wet battered products. You have think of an air fryer as a different cooking method. You wouldn’t expect a microwave (only) to brown (steaks/Toast etc) You cant cook a cake sous vide. Air fryers are excellent at what they do, but it isn’t fair to do a review on something it can’t . But otherwise, loving your work guys👍

I saw this episode and it REALLY annoyed me. The one thing that everyone with an air fryer knows, and the INSTRUCTIONS tell you is that wet battered items are a no no, their, so called, chef should have known that! I've been watching the gadget show since it first aired and their testing is getting more and more ridiculously disconnected from real life.

I’m surprised they didn’t attempt to make ice cream in them. Silly tests don’t impress.

Duckin' reficulous. Of course it won't do battered items. Like asking a deep fat fryer to bake a cake..

So I have the ninja dual and I know this sounds crazy, but when I do foods with a wet batter I usually brown in oil on the stove top first then let it cool in the fridge until meal time, then I pop it in the air fryer. I know this sounds ridiculous because the whole purpose is to reduce the oil for cooking, but cooking it in the oil in the skillet for a short time is certainly better than frying it completely. There are things the airfryer is perfect for, such as chicken wings, steak or Pork Char Siu. Precooked packaged foods such as frys, fish or just about any precooked frozen item works very well. It cooks better than my 700 dollar microwave and way easier to clean.

Air Fryers are at the end of the day a mini fan oven, the major plus (because of their size) is they preheat way quicker and save you electricity.

An Air Fryer, is an oven with a higher power fan, not a deep fat fryer. They're superb with coated chicken, pre battered fish, oven fries, sausages, par boiled potatoes, oodles of things. But with wet battered fish, they might as well have put it in the microwave!

Frozen fish and chips in one of these things is absolutely incredible.

Batter is meant to be cooked in a deep fat fryer, it’s a different chemical reaction . And toast never comes out evenly cooked even from a toaster ( it’s to do with the distribution of sugar in the mix) . Total waste if time as a experiment. Fully trained chef of 50 years experience.🤪🤪🙃

Did you use Avocado Oil? Use a spritzer. Don't use pressurized

i was going to buy the Philips one because I got a voucher from them but i said what is the point of these. the system is not new to the market. i have 10 years old fan oven with a grill which does the same. they just call it an air fryer!!!!

To all the people moaning and whinging, maybe if they called them mini-ovens (which they are) instead of advertising them as FRYERS, people wouldn't expect them, you know, to fry things. Advertise a magical oil-less fryer, get demolished in comparative testing with fryers.

Having got a ninja 2 draw, never had an issue. Always been awesome, wouldnt get the Phillip's as you're cooking so why use an app when it should be controlled on the unit. Instant is a nice unit but I've never owned one but I know someone who used to then bought the ninja as it had 2 draws how ever if the instant had a 2 draw would have kept to instant so personal preference and not getting a faulty unit.

My air fryer cooks frozen chips in ten minutes and they are crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle.

It is also good with tandoori chicken.

Given how little Oil is used in Air fryers, its hard to do things like tempura or things needing a batter.

If air fryers can cook things like chili cheese poppers, chicken strips, goujons, nuggets from frozen or defrosted? I may get one soon. Air Heaters maybe a more accurate name for them? Hardly any oil used.

I find that wet ingredients, like batter or saucy wings, usually don't work well in an air fryer. When I do wings for example, I do plain or dry rub adhered to mustard. I don't do fish battered in my Ninja AF101 it would get blown around the basket and make a fire hazard. I can't do toast in my ninja, unless I put something to hold it down..i've tried..fan too strong, bread doesn't stay in 1 place.

They are more like a mini fan oven than fryer
