I feel like it's a mistake to have Dre teaching lessons to anybody.

“...felt like a setup!” I invited a Jewish woman in her 60s to have a conversation about race and she basically said, “No, thank you!” She said the last time she had the opportunity she was afraid she’d say something wrong. She also said she was upset when they had diversity training at an organization she’s a part of. I applaud anyone who makes the effort to understand and change because the default is usually defensiveness and fear.

Living in Appalachia, we were never taught that everyone had the same opportunities. We could look around and see that that wasn't the case.

There's a lot of talk about understanding the black experience. May I suggest that black Americans ask about the white experience of their friends and they'll find they are pretty similar. Not 200 years ago, not 100 years ago, but today.
