I have to agree with those that have posted before me. In America we would say "The grass is always greener on the other side". Example: The U.S. is so boring to me, but Russia is exotic and appealing. Great videos!

I've never run into famous people while shopping in the US. In Moscow, on the other hand, I ran into Anita Tsoy in a shop on Tverskaya. Famous people I have met in the US are mostly figure skaters -- Sasha Cohen, Alexei Yagudin, Ekaterina Gordeeva, Meryl Davis and Charlie White, etc. Tatiana Tarasova (figure skating coach) almost literally ran me over in the hallway at the World Championships in Los Angeles (2009).

I've been to a few filmings of Dancing with the Stars, so I have seen a lot of famous people there, of course. Too many to count, really. And I've been to a lot of book signings (the best one was Stephenie Meyer, the author of Twilight), but those were all intentional events -- not like seeing an actor in the grocery store.

I have spent more than 30 years traveling for a living and I have been to every crack and crevice of America and I also lived in Japan for 17 years and I can tell you that, it's actually very rare to meet a really famous person at the airport in America because if they are super famous here, then they probably have a private jet... However, since Japan is very small and expensive and people are very conservative then it is very easy to encounter super-famous people anywhere in Japan, even members of The Japanese Imperial Family... I know because i have done it on several occasions.

Hi, I am a Salvadoran native. Moved to Denver, Colorado when I was 24 and understand exactly your explanation about the magic we imagine about other countries. I visited Yekaterinburg and some places in Russia for three months, and to be honest with you the only magic I found was the stillness and whiteness of Siberia and the beauty of women. Thanks for your videos

Hi from the Northern Beaches 🌊 region of Sydney, Australia 🇦🇺 🤗.

Love Moscow and Russia 🇷🇺! Have been there twice so far and going back there again in February 2018! Hope to go there every year.

I have stumbled across this because I did meet a Russian girl while I was there who I'm thinking about surprising when I come back because even though we didn't really talk too much, it felt like we had quite a spiritual bond and I greatly miss her and her nurturing/caring of me and my eating habits which I haven't had that since I moved away from my family so she really left a mark in my heart as I haven't experienced that since being there either.

Anyway, I was looking for some hints and ideas about what would be appropriate and appreciated and what wouldn't be, etc. So I have a few questions;

1/ if I bought a soft, Aussie animal toy, what would be the most prized possession for a Russian girl? Would that be ideal?

2/ I was thinking about buying a packet of Tim Tams (they're a well-known, traditional, Aussie chocolate biscuit with chocolate cream in middle and covered in a layer of chocolate). Going by what you said about Russian girls looking after their bodies, etc, would a Russian girl still like chocolates such as these tim tams or should I not include that?

Also, regarding this stuff about someone being rich... I do understand where you're coming from with that. Honestly, I think women everywhere dream of finding someone rich so that they don't have to worry anymore, like you said. But isn't that underestimating your own worth as a human being? Like honestly, I'm a middle-class wage earner now but I have also grown up in a childhood where I was almost homeless and would eat a small tin of food a day, eat bread and milk that was off and would brush my teeth using nothing but salt and hot water, so I have seen both sides to this. But to me, the greatest thing I gained from it was strength of character and self-belief because I'm now in that comfortable space in life not because I met someone that had money and somehow managed to gain quick wealth, but because I worked hard and persisted through the difficult times and got the job I now have from never giving up and believing in myself even when I was being knocked back. Now to me, Russian women are some of the most intelligent women in the world, with the strongest of personalities and emotional strength too. Russian women need to give themselves more credit because you guys deserve the absolute best things in life, not because someone can give it to you, but because you deserve it. But with the way you've put the money thing in this video, it does feel a little bit off-putting. Like I said, being someone who has come from a poor background and is now doing quite well for myself, yes I'm probably a bit more generous than the average person and for the right person, I would like to offer someone in a financially difficult situation, something that I wish someone had offered to me when I was in that position, but I would only do so if I knew for certain that it was because the person was into me as a person and not because of my financial stability. Not only do I feel that I deserve more than that, but the person themselves need to know that they are deserving of only the best otherwise I think there would always be an underlying, personal, confidence issue for that person.

your Russian expression or phrase equates to an American phrase, "the grass is always greener on the other side." have a nice day Shtukensia.

Here is my story. I moved from Maryland to Florida a few years ago and met my second big Florida alligator today. It was so exciting! I was on a wood platform overlooking a lake in my suburban neighborhood gazing at the sunset reflected in the water and this big gator suddenly surfaced just yards below me. It was completely unexpected. Alligators were around in their earliest forms 245 million years ago (which is about 3 times as long ago as crocodiles)! I consider meeting an American alligator WAY cooler than meeting a famous American person. The manatees aren't such a thrill. Their heads are big squares that surface and gently bob every so often when they take a breath. That's all. Dolphins are always cool to see. I've seen the mommas surface with their babies a few times while walking along the local bayfront. But nothing beats encountering alligators. They are like creatures from another planet.
