What is Theta? - THETA Beginners Guide

Theta is a novel decentralized video content delivery network based on blockchain technology. It is designed to improve video streaming quality and reward those who offer their computing resources for improved video delivery. When it was founded in 2018, the team set out to increase global access to live video streaming by reducing the infrastructure required. Many people in developing countries are cut off from enjoying streaming services because of the high cost of connecting remote data centers to end-users. The Theta team also sees the current infrastructure as inadequate for the increasing bandwidth demands for streaming 4K, 8K, and VR content.
