Germany: I’m not at war fully with the United States. Just don’t touch the boats!
Japan: I’m sorry I couldn’t hear you I just touched Americas boats
Germany: YOU DID WHAT
*4 years later*
America: Japan HERE COMES THE SUN
Japan: OH HOLY *sees Hiroshima and Nagasaki vaporized*

The content-creator got this half-right. Germany was so over-confidant they thought it wouldn't affect much. But EVERYONE completely underestimated the untapped potential of the U.S.; which was recovering from the Great Depression. (This is from his book.) Before the war, the head of Germany's equivalent of our C.I.A. gave a presentation on America's ability to wage war. Goring leapt to his feet and yelled, "No one can produce that much steel!" When they were both prisoners after the war, Goring said, "I guess you were right." He didn't have to say about what.

actually, had they not declared the US would have had to officially declare war, and considering that at the time there was sentiment in certain parts of the US public that supported the Nazi policies it was not a sure thing, . case being when Roosevelt had his speech to the nation he said nothing about Germany despite its known alliance with Japan

Germany just made it official that they were at war. And they were right as they were gonna fight anyways

It really didn’t change much, the only impact is that the “Germany first” policy wouldn’t happen
