I did always find it interesting. Before Dudley, a lot of fighting game boxers were rush-in heavy bullies like Balrog, but after Dudley, a lot more articulate ducking and weaving started showing up in fighting games.

It's funny that Dudley has a taunt for an unblockable setup. And has a move called jet upper.

I want to emphasis just how important jumping is for Dudley. He is a character almost entirely defined by his one weakness. A complete lack of a reliable low poke. He compensates for that with one of the fastest jumps in the game with a really low arc, paired with jumping normals that have high hit stun (j.HK in particular). This forces players to react much faster to his jumps than against basically anyone without a dive kick. Most high level Dudley play involves baiting your opponent into playing a traditional ground game to mask your jump-in attempts. Once that is established, his jump in and of itself becomes a mix-up, much like the conditioning that Makoto players do around her dash.

Without that one game plan warping intended weakness, Dudley almost sounds completely busted on paper. Amazing defense with above average health, stun and a suite of reversals. Strong neutral when your opponent is approaching due to strong counter pokes/whiff punishes, and probably the best arsenal of anti-airs in the game. Comically amazing offense with plus frames for days, un-reactable high/low mix-ups, high damage, corner carry and set play with the rose taunt.

Easily my favorite character in a fighting game ever.

My favorite character in 3rd Strike. He's also one of the main reasons I started to branch from just Ryu and Ken archetypes. Here's to hoping he gets added to SF6 in the future.

As a born and bred Tekken player, I don't go anywhere near 2D games but SF3 to me is just the coolest game ever. Everything from the music, art design, characters.. it just oozes cool. One early memory I have is going to the arcade in the SF bay area 20 years ago, and there was an SF3 tournament there, but it was just one guy playing dudely and if you beat him, you would win like 100 dollars or something. He has like a 50 win streak when I saw it. I doubt anyone here remembers that, but it was at Milpitas Golfland (Used to see JimmyJtran around there). Dope series TBS!

Dudley's 3rd Strike voiceover is still the best. Wish he had it in USF4.

When you want to put your opponent in a vortex. Like a gentleman. I've always felt that in an actual boxing match between the two, Balrog get absolutely pieced up by Dudley. Balrog strikes me as kind of guy who'd get frustrated and sloppy if he couldn't knock a guy out inside of two rounds.
