The DualShock 3 is one of the best controllers made. You actually hold it instead of bear pawing it, the analog placement is also perfect for the size. This is coming from someone with big hands.

The Option key is the equivalent 'Start' button. 'Select' was rarely utilised in games so they didn't waste space in including it.

They are built into the touch pad. It clicks down to function as the start button.

Today I got the ps4 controller as well, and it feels awesome, and I love the fact that they added a feature to connect your headphones to it, can't wait to use it on my ps4 that will arrive on November 15 XD

the touchpad has two clickable buttons underneath it, the two buttons can be mapped however the dev chooses, but realistically, most people believe that they will assume the same functions as start and select.

yes, as of right now it works for a few games on the ps3, not all but a solid amount

That is what the options is for. For anything that needs select can be used with touchpad.

Best damn controller I've ever had the pleasure of holding in my hands! Can't wait to actually get some play time in now. BTW, this controller does work with a lot of PS3 games right now, it just has to be plugged in to the system with the cord.

Sony changed the concave thumbsticks, this was one of the biggest flaws in PS controllers because of the tendency of your thumbs to slip. The triggers in the PS3 also tend to be slippery due to its design, now it is actually more like triggers. Also wider shoulder buttons. Sony also stated about thinking of changing the thumbsticks placement to asymmetrical because it's better for shooters but decided not to simply because that was a classic PS design. Also the headphone jack at the bottom.

the select button you select what ever with usually back is the circle button, some games it's the select button depends on the title and the region

According to Sony, the Dual Shock 4 is PC compatible out of the box. So you can use it on both the PC and PS4. So that's probably why they launched the controller early.

Probably easier logistically and I'd guess so that by the time it comes out there's been ample opportunity for people to get the number of controllers they desire.

To the people asking why they released it early, you can use it on the ps3 and pc and selected mac titles

This smart for Sony. Releasing the controller early will give people a taste of the PS4 before launch. I like it, it looks more comfortable to hold than the DS3.

I've held the dual shock 4 and can say that it feels nothing like the dual shock 3. It's so much more comfortable.

I really like the look of this, but I still imagine the xbox one controller will feel better in your hand. Just my thoughts though, haven't gotten to hold any of them yet.
