One reason we should avoid doing evil is the suffering built into it. It's a spiritual law, like the laws of physics--evil brings misery, to ourselves and those around us. Conversely, choosing good can bring more happiness and peace into our lives and into the lives of others.

They say good deeds are their own rewards. Clearly doing evil is reciprocally its own punishment. Evil is a sin against the self; it’s an action which goes against what you believe to be true and good.

This is true. I’ve done some things in my life that is beyond terrible. For 11 years I have done my best to stay on the right path. There’s not a day goes by I don’t carry heaviness from my path. I know with all my soul when I die I will not land at gods feet. No matter how good I am now he has no reason to forgive me.
